According to a new River States Conference preseason poll, the Asbury University tennis teams
are selected for first place in both the men and women’s category. The women’s team got six
first-place votes while the men’s team received five first-place votes.
“I am excited about the River States Conference poll,” said Kai Kai Suvimolstean, a junior on
the men’s team. “We have a better team than last year, and our goal is to get in the Top 25
again.”
In the past, the men’s team has won eight regular-season titles, while the women’s team has
secured three consecutive regular championships.
Kendall Jablonowski, a junior and captain on the women’s team, hopes to continue the winning
streak.
“For four years, Asbury University’s women’s tennis has won the conference title,” Jablonowski
said. “I want to advance to the national tournament this year, and I am hopeful we can win a
match at nationals, which has never been done before.”
Both the men and women’s teams will begin their seasons with a match in Crestview Hills,
Kentucky, against Thomas More College on Feb. 29.
