Every year, seniors get a special chance to show off their talents and appreciate each
other’s hard work, a single night where these upperclassmen get one final chance to
steal the spotlight: Senior Showcase.
However, the Visionary Class’s Senior Showcase was not to be. Due to recent
developments of the COVID-19 outbreak, Asbury University has decided to shutter its
doors for the remainder of the semester.
“Based on the advice of health experts, guidance from the Center for Disease Control,
directives from the Kentucky Governors’ Office, and consensus of our own Asbury
University COVID-19 Response Team, we have made the very difficult decision to
complete the Spring Semester in an online instruction format for traditional
undergraduate students,” Asbury president Dr. Kevin Brown said in an email statement.
The event, which gives the senior class an opportunity to gather together and showcase
their wide variety of talents, had been planned for March 24.
Senior Showcase would have consisted of a traditional talent show with a few acts,
artwork displayed all over the Stuce and a reception.
“I was looking forward to displaying talents of the senior class for all of campus to
enjoy,” Visionary Class Publicist Haleigh Davis said. “We also had some pretty good
food planned!”
