Students are now able to purchase tickets for Asbury’s upcoming “3 plays — 1 show — 6 nights.” The Asbury Theatre Department is preparing for their upcoming production that will run six shows Oct. 22-24 and Oct. 29-31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Greathouse Theatre in the Andrew S. Miller Center for Communication Arts.
The upcoming production “3 plays — 1 show — 6 nights,” consists of exactly what the title refers to. The show has 3 separate plays with very different storylines: “Breaking of the Bread,” “Tolkien’s Marriage” and “What is Love? (Baby Don’t Hurt Me).”
“The stories bring themes of the heart, what is it that makes us human and the choices we make in the challenges of life,” director Carol Anderson said. “And the screwball comedy? Well just see it and experience it, it’s written by three recent alumni and a lot of fun.”
Tickets for the show are $6 for students, faculty and staff or $12 for general admission and can be reserved at asbury.edu/theatre or purchased in the cafeteria. In-person seating is limited to 50 people in the theatre. For anyone who wants to see the show virtually, performances on Oct. 30-31 will be made available over live stream.
The actors are following CDC rules for athletes and actors. When actors have six feet of distance, then their masks will be off with different protections in place.
“Even promotional photos are taken with masks down for a matter of seconds to keep actors safe,” the press release about the event said.
“Everyone is working hard to create theatre in the midst of Covid challenges because we need the arts to help us laugh, think, and lift us out of our circumstances for some refreshing perspective,” Anderson said. “We hope these shows do that.”
