BAsbury women’s cross-country senior Bethany Hamilton was awarded the title of River States Conference runner of the week. She posted a 20:44:33 to secure the best time for the Eagles.
“I was pleasantly surprised to be chosen as runner of the week,” Hamilton said. “It definitely wasn’t something on my radar, but it has been fun to see how a lot of hard work over the past year is finally paying off.”
Keeping her faith through her collegiate career, Hamilton reflected on how God has helped her through the past 4 years.
“Being chosen as runner of the week has really just filled my heart with joy, as it has reminded me of all that God has helped me overcome the past 4 years,” said Hamilton.
Although her week was very successful, it wasn’t easy.
“I would say the biggest challenge for me going into all of my races so far has been trying to block out the pressure that I sometimes feel to perform well,” she said.
Hamilton has her mind set on team goals for upcoming meets.
“As a team, I would love to see everyone continue to get new personal best times and to have fun doing it!”
The Eagles next meet is Oct. 9 at the Fast Cats event in Owensboro.
