Fall things to do on-campus: COVID edition

We’re nearly halfway through our socially-distanced, mask-wearing and hand-washing semester, and as classes are starting to get difficult and fall is in full swing, we’re all looking for ways to procrastinate. However, finding some fun on campus is difficult these days due to COVID-19 restrictions. Having some difficulty coming up with things to do this semester? Never fear, we’ve got some ideas!

1. Go for a socially-distanced picnic

Everyone knows a Wilmore sunset can’t be beaten. Grab some food to-go from the caf or one of the Bistro kiosks, a blanket, your speaker and whatever else you want, and head out to watch the sunset behind Zwiefel Field. Bring your masks and make sure you’ve got six feet of distance between you and your friends to stay COVID-friendly.

2. Have a fall-themed movie or game night in the commons

Depending on which residence hall you live in, you can reserve a commons room or hang out in the lobby (masked and socially-distanced, of course). Bring a movie or a game, bake some of those Pillsbury Halloween cookies if there’s a commons kitchen and you’ve got yourself a cozy night in with friends!

3. Decorate your hall or apartment for fall

You’re probably sensing a fall theme here, but that’s because fall inspires all of the cozy vibes that we need to get us through the rest of the semester! If your hall feels like it needs a little cozy makeover, get some of your hallmates together (masked, of course) and have a decorating party. You might even make some new friends while you’re at it!

4. Go for a hike on the Asbury trails

There is nothing prettier than Kentucky in October. Take advantage of the cooler days and the still sunny weather and go for a hike on the Asbury trails! Additionally, the trails are fairly level and easy to follow, making it perfect for those who are less experienced with hiking.

5. Try all the seasonal drinks at the HICCUP

Grab a few friends and go to the HICCUP to try out their fall drink menu! Sit outside on the STUCE porch and talk about life and, of course, your mutual love of HICCUP seasonal drinks. Remember to stay masked and socially distanced!
