Asbury men’s basketball mid-season recap

The Asbury’s men’s basketball team is making significant waves in the River States Conference with its 11-3 record as the Eagles reach the middle of the season. The Eagles, at one point, won seven consecutive games and, after a 10-18 record last season, it’s clear that the team is playing with a new mentality and renewed confidence.

Four players average double digits in scoring and there is now a supporting cast of talented underclassmen. Given the strong senior presence, the Eagles have high expectations.

Junior guard Eric Powell said the team is looking ahead and not behind.

“We aren’t satisfied with that and as a team, we know that’s not our end goal. We are focused on the bigger picture, getting prepared for tournament time.”

Keep an eye out for the Eagles as they are back in action on Jan. 30 against Alice Lloyd College.
