Asbury softball opens season

The Asbury University softball team is finally back on the field.

After facing multiple game cancellations due to weather, the Eagles traveled to Williamsburg for a doubleheader against Campbellsville and the University of the Cumberlands on Feb. 21.

Asbury opened the season with a victory, defeating Campbellsville 6-1.

Junior pitcher McKenzie Meyer was dominant on the mound, as she pitched the entire game and struck out ten. The Eagle offense was also strong, with the six runs scored on eight hits in the game.

However, in the second game, their offense was not as strong.

In their second game against the University of the Cumberlands, Asbury only scored one run off of three hits. The final score of the second game was 7-1, with the University of the Cumberlands on top.

Now that the winter weather has passed, the Eagles are continuing their season as scheduled for the rest of the month.
