Kentucky football kicks off tomorrow

The Kentucky Wildcats are kicking off their 2022 season against the Miami RedHawks tomorrow night, 9/03.

UK finished up last year with a 10-3 record and took home a victory at the Vrbo Citrus Bowl against Iowa. They wound up ranked fifteenth in the final coaches poll.

Bringing in fresh new talent from all around the country, the Wildcats will be looking to do some damage in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

“We need to be more consistent. I think we have a good nucleus, a good team, we need to be more consistent,” coach Mark Stoops said in a Kentucky Football tweet.

The Wildcats get massive support from all around Kentucky, including on Asbury’s campus.

“I can’t wait to see what it is all about this year. Got some big names at UK this year and just overall excited to see how they do,” said freshman Cayden Devine, who has been a lifelong UK fan.

Last year, UK posted a 5-3 conference record and finished second overall in the SEC East.

According to stats on their website, the Wildcats averaged 32 points a game last year and only allowed 22 points.

This year, Kentucky ranks fourth against the six Southeastern Conference teams trailing Alabama, Georgia, and Texas A&M.

Star quarterback Will Levis will return for the Wildcats this fall with the additional help from their experienced returning defense.

Questions remain surrounding Chris Rodriguez’s status and whether he will return to the roster this upcoming season. The running back pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle under the influence in early July.

Some good games to look out for this year include the Wildcats taking on Florida Sept. 10, Georgia Nov. 19, and Louisville Nov. 26.

Saturday’s game will kick off 30 minutes up the road on Kroger Field at 7 p.m.
