Mid-September will see a number of events heading to Asbury University and Jessamine County.
On Sept. 10, the Ichthus Music Festival will return to Wilmore’s Servant Heart Farms for the second year in a row, following its revival in 2021. For 2022, the renowned Christian music festival will feature a lineup of 18 artists, including Sanctus Real, 7eventh Time Down, Devin Williams and Laurel Taylor.
“Ichthus was the first Christian music festival beginning in 1970,” Joe Lycan, owner of Servant Heart Farms, said in a Jul. 8 press release announcing the festival’s return. “A legacy of salvation and discipleship was developed through that ministry. We are celebrating Christ through music and taking the Christian music festival back to the cross of Jesus.”
Servant Heart Farms is located at 9533 Harrodsburg Rd. Tickets. Tickets, which can be purchased at https://ichthusfest.org/tickets, are $35 for ages 16 and up, $25 for ages 8-15, and free for children younger than 8.
Jessamine County will also host the first annual Barks & Bluegrass Festival, presented by the Efaw family, on Sept. 10 at Jessamine County Fairgrounds. The festival will feature an eclectic mix of car shows, craft exhibitions, silent auctions, and bluegrass music performances. Artists performing include the Lonesome River Band, Fenced In, Larry Efaw & The Bluegrass Mountaineers, Gary Strong & Hardtime no s and Stanley Efaw & Friends, among others. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for ages 12-16, and free for children.

Sept. 12 is the first day of Asbury University’s Fall Revival series, which will feature an evening worship service every night at 7:30 pm, until the event’s conclusion on Sept. 16. That same week will feature special chapel sessions with guest speaker Dr. A. J. Swoboda. Swoboda is the author of the award-winning Subversive Sabbath, an assistant professor of theology at Bushnell University, and leader of a Doctor of Ministry program at Fuller Theological Seminary.
On Sept. 16-17, Wilmore will host its annual More Tales Storytelling Festival. This event, held at 210 Lexington Ave., features live tales from storytellers from across America, as well as food and craft vendors. On the line-up for this year’s festival are Regi Carpenter, founder of the festival and author of Where There’s Smoke, There’s Dinner; Bobby Norfolk, host of the Emmy Award winning television shows Gator Tales and Children’s Theater at Bobby’s House; and Stephen Hollen, Mark Twain impersonator and returning MC of More Tales.
The event begins on the evening of Sept. 16, with a selection of ghost stories, followed by a full day of storytelling performances on Sept. 17.
