Rites of passage

As a fifth-year senior, I can confidently say that I can tell how things have changed since I was a freshman. As someone who gets annoyed easily, I can also say that there are some downsides to having such a big incoming freshman class right alongside the good things.

With a big, the biggest, incoming freshman class that Asbury has seen thus far, there are things that we can all be thankful for: the fact that the revival had such a big impact, the idea that our sports teams have a chance to really grow in size, etc. These are some of the obvious upsides to lots of freshmen.

With this comes some downfall. For example, in my freshman year, the parking situation looked completely different. Freshmen parked in the cage, sophomores parked behind the boys’ dorms, and the upperclassmen could park wherever they wanted. As the years have gone by I have been subject to a change in parking every. Single. Year. Parking in the cage is something that should be considered a rite of passage.

Considering there are a lot of good things about a large freshman class, I will forgive the freshman who parks where my elderly self wishes to park. We are only human.

And hey, as long as they don’t leave the balcony halfway through the closing chapel song… I guess I can look at the positives.
