On the evening of January 23, the Asbury University women’s basketball team faced off against the Campbellsville University Harrodsburg Pioneers at Asbury. The game concluded with a solid 99-38 victory for the Asbury Eagles, marking the team’s sixth consecutive win.
This triumph showcased their dominance and demonstrated exceptional performance on various fronts. The Eagles also hit their season-scoring high of 99 points.
Asbury exhibited an outstanding shooting display, achieving 41% from the field and an impressive 30% from three-point range. The Pioneers went 25% and 17% as a whole team.
The Eagle’s highest scorer, senior Abagial Harris, put up 15 points and also recorded two rebounds. Building on her strong showing from the previous week, senior Celia Pelfrey made a notable contribution of 13 points, four steals, and two assists.
With an impressive show of ball control, the Eagle’s turned the ball over only four times throughout the game. Furthermore, the Eagle’s demonstrated their proficiency in sharing the ball, collectively registering an outstanding 27 assists.
Asbury’s superiority was evident on the defensive end as they forced the opposing Pioneers into 24 turnovers. Notably, the Eagle’s bench made a significant impact by contributing a season-high 58 points. Adding to their dominance, Asbury secured victories in all four quarters, highlighting their consistent and well-rounded performance.
Ultimately, Asbury secured a well-deserved victory over the Pioneers, marking a memorable chapter in their ongoing season.
