The Asbury University men’s golf team is gearing up again for a season filled with promise and potential. With a talented roster, strong leadership, strategic coaching, and unwavering community support, the team is expected to make its mark on the course.
The team is preparing to build on its success from the commendable 2023 fall season as it transitions into the 2024 spring season. Outstanding achievements, such as securing a respectable 2nd place finish at the NCCAA Mideast Regional and attaining an at-large bid to the honorable NCCAA National Championship in Palm Coast, FL., have set a high standard for the team.
Garrett Sturges is at the forefront of the Eagles’ roster, whose exceptional performance was instrumental in securing the team’s appearance in the NCCAA National Championship. During the Palm Coast tournament, Sturges showcased his skill with many birdies and an impressive tally of over 11 pars. Complementing his leadership are three promising freshmen— Grayson Head, Gideon Coleman, and Peter Hoeppneru— whose impactful debuts in collegiate competition significantly strengthened the team’s accomplishments.
Anticipating the forthcoming schedule, Asbury Men’s Golf will participate in four prominent spring events. The team will initiate its campaign at the “Alabama Invasion” in Union Grove, AL. on March 9-10, followed by the “Klash in Kentucky” in Perry Park, KY. on March 23-24.
