This year, Asbury will host the Wesleyan Heritage Conference from Oct. 7 until Oct. 9. The conference consists of Chapel messages and additional lectures from four main speakers.
The conference begins with a Chapel message in Hughes Auditorium from Dr. Beth Felker Jones on Monday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. Jones’s message is titled “Holiness Is Next to Godliness,” and Matthew 5:13-20 is the main section of Scripture. A Talkback lunch with Jones will be held in the Dougherty Dining Room at noon.
A FLEX credit event will be hosted Monday evening from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Rader Student Center in the Map Room. Jones will be presenting a lecture titled “A Holy Mess.”
On Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the conference continues with the Faculty Development Luncheon, where Dr. Chris Bounds will present a lecture titled “Definite Holiness.” This event will take place in the Dougherty Dining Room and is for full-time faculty only; RSVP is required.
Bounds will also speak on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. in Hughes Auditorium for Chapel. Bounds’ message is entitled “Can We Be Perfect in This Life?” and will be pulling from Matthew 5:48.
A panel discussion will be open to students as a FLEX credit event from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the Map Room of the Rader Student Center.
This event is entitled “Holiness of Heart and of Life” and will include three Twenty-First Century Discipleship Panelists: Dr. Chris Bounds, Dr. Phil Meadows and Dr. Joseph Dongell. Dr. Kevin Anderson and Dr. Julianne Burnett will be the moderators for this discussion.
