For the first time, Kentucky Kingdom will be hosting a new holiday experience: Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom. The park will be extending its season by 24 days for this new program. It will open on Nov 29, 2024 and last until Jan. 4, 2025.
The event will feature holiday character meet and greets with Santa and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, lights and seasonal food. The centerpiece of the holiday extravaganza is the Snow Zone, a 175-foot snow tubing hill with a machine that cranks out over 100 tons of snow a day. This also features the Blizzard Bay Igloo Village, available for up to six guests per group. There are also specialty shows, such as a street performance called Spirit of the Season and a performance called The Magic of the Season taking place on the North Star Stage.
Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom is included in daily admission or in-season passes provided by the park. Kentuckykingdom.com says, “Get ready to immerse yourself in the magic of the season among dazzling displays of over 1.5 MILLION lights, over 300 Christmas trees and holiday decor as far as the eye can see.”
Kentucky Kingdom is an entertainment venue located in Louisville, Ky. Originally developed as an expansion to the Kentucky State Fair, the park opened in the late 1980s. It was a roaring success, but after a change of ownership and poor money management, Kentucky Kingdom went bankrupt in 2010.
Only a couple of years later, plans were made to reopen it in the 2013 season. The park officially became accessible to the public in 2014 after a bumpy road. Known for such rides as Thunder Run and Storm Chaser, the place is beloved throughout all of Kentucky. The park also has a corresponding water park named Hurricane Bay, with a wave pool and water slides.
