The City of Wilmore is set to host their annual Shop Small Business Week in downtown Wilmore from Nov. 30 – Dec. 7. The Wilmore Business Association and the Community Development Board are partnering with American Express to promote their “Shop Small Business Saturday.” While the official date of the event is Nov. 30, Wilmore is celebrating for a full week.
The close of the week will be celebrated with the Main Street Christmas Market on Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During this week, all retail shops will feature holiday inventory, sales, gifts with purchases, refreshments and more. Shoppers will also have the opportunity to enter gift certificate giveaways.
This week-long event seeks to encourage people to shop locally. Small businesses create jobs and pay local taxes. When you shop locally, you are helping more funds stay within the community.
According to Wilmore’s official website, “When you spend $100 locally, $68 will stay in the community. Other benefits to shopping locally are savings on travel, gas and time. And local shop owners can offer that personalized assistance that is so often missing when shopping.”
This event will be a great opportunity to bring in the winter holiday and get in Christmas shopping while supporting local small businesses within this close community.
