Ethan Bonow breaks school swimming records

Freshman Ethan Bonow from the men’s swim team recently broke two school records.

Coming from Crawford, Texas, Bonow told Sports Editor Lane Mills that he’s been swimming for close to a decade now. Within his first semester at Asbury, Bonow has earned the title of athlete of the week twice already.

The first record broken by Bonow is for the Men’s 100 Meter Freestyle, establishing a new mark of 45.76. He followed this by breaking a second record in finals, this time for the Men’s 50 Meter Freestyle, which he set at 20.80, which is doubly impressive considering the previous record had also been set by himself at 20.86.

The head swimming coach, Graham Duncan, said on the Asbury Eagles website, “It’s always so much fun watching Ethan compete. He works so hard each day in practice and to see that work pay off for him in some pretty big ways is really cool. Two school records and a new meet record in the same weekend is an incredible accomplishment, but the best part for me was watching Ethan encourage his teammates and continue to find ways to bring out the best in those around him. He’s a special young man, and I can’t wait to see how he continues to grow this season.”
