While students have been gearing up for finals, those in the Acting 1 class have also been preparing for the upcoming Fall Acting Showcase.
According to Ethan Howard, a student in the class, “The fall acting showcase is an opportunity for students in the beginner acting classes to present what they have learned to their classmates and friends.” The event allows students to demonstrate their growth and hard work from the semester.
Students in the Acting 1 class have been partnered up to present scenes that they have been rehearsing for the past few weeks. The collaborative process has been both a learning experience and an opportunity to refine their skills.“Many of us in the class, myself included, took the class in order to improve our acting and presenting skills, and we have all been working hard to give Asbury a good show,” Howard stated.
The Fall Acting Showcase provides students with a platform to step into the spotlight and share their progress with the Asbury community. The showcase is both an opportunity for students to share what they have learned and to celebrate all of their hard work from the semester.
Carol Anderson, who teaches the Acting 1 class stated “They work hard, and it all comes together in this crazy 90 minutes where they all go out there and do an amazing job. There’s so much triumph and joy at the end. It’s a great experience every time we do this.”
According to Anderson “THA 151 Acting 1 is part of Asbury’s theatre program and a gen-ed alternative for the Com 130 speech class. It’s open to all majors and teaches the foundations of good acting for stage and film.”
The Fall Acting Showcase will take place on Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the TV Studio in Miller, offering a stress-free night of fun for those who attend.
