A weekend guide to Asbury Athletics

As the student body gets back into the swing of things for the 2025 spring semester, it’s business as usual for Asbury Athletics.

The women’s basketball team is on the road in Decatur, Ga., to take on the Agnes Scott Scotties on Friday, Jan. 31. Sitting at just under .500 on their overall record, the Eagles will look to make a stand away from home in an effort to push their season into the positive margins.

The Scotties, holding a 2-12 record, present the perfect opportunity for the women’s team to do so. They’ll take on Wesleyan College the following day, Saturday, in Macon, Ga.

The men’s basketball team has the weekend off.

Men’s and women’s swimming, on the other hand, do not. They’ll meet just down the road at Centre College in Danville for an 11 a.m. meet. The men’s team sits at 2-4 on the season, the women, 3-3. Both teams will work to improve their overall tallies with strong performances over the weekend.

Both track and field units will also meet together at the Cedarville Invitational in Cedarville, Ohio, on Friday. This road trip follows a meet at Centre; given the week in-between the two, each team will have the chance to rest ahead of crossing state lines and gearing up for another match in enemy territory.

The track and field teams won’t enjoy a home meet until April at the Asbury Invitational. Performing well away from home will be a crucial metric going forward.

While that’s all for what is essentially an Asbury athletics road trip this weekend, every team benefits from your support when the time for a home game rolls around.

So bundle up, find a game, match or meet and cheer on your Eagles as soon as you get the chance!
