It’s a new year, a new semester, and along with that comes new seasons for the various Asbury sports teams.
By now, men’s and women’s basketball, as well as swimming are underway, with track and field starting this Saturday, Jan. 25.
As far as this weekend is concerned, there’s plenty going on. To kick things off, on Friday, Jan. 24, the men’s and women’s basketball teams play back-to-back home games against Belhaven University. The women’s team plays first at 4 p.m., and the men’s team plays right after at 6 p.m.
The next day is jam-packed with events, starting with the kickoff of the track & field season in Danville, Ky.
At 1 p.m., there’s a swim meet here in Wilmore, against Anderson University and Midway University.
Later that day, both basketball teams play against Piedmont University, presented by the Asbury Executive Cabinet. The women’s team plays first at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s team at 4 p.m.
“E.C. Night is an opportunity for the Executive Cabinet to support Asbury Athletics while connecting campus together around an AU basketball event,” said Colton Back, Director of Athletic Communications and Events. “There will be giveaways, including Chick-fil-A, t-shirts and also a halftime contest sponsored by E.C. with prizes awarded to winners.”
That’s all for this weekend, but there are plenty more AU sports events to look forward to right around the corner.
On Wednesday, Jan. 29, the men’s basketball team will play against Ohio Christian University here in Wilmore at 7 p.m. for the “Ray Shouse Game.”
Finally, on Friday, Jan. 31, the track and field teams will have a meet in Cedarville, Ohio, as well as the women’s basketball team, who will play a road game against Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga. at 6 p.m.
