Louisville Orchestra provides free concerts across Kentucky

In 2022, the Grammy award-winning Louisville Orchestra announced that it would be expanding its musical offerings across the state. Their efforts included a performance in Mammoth Cave alongside renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma. This year, they announced a new tour, “In Harmony – The Commonwealth Tour of the Louisville Orchestra,” bringing free performances across the Commonwealth.

Their tour is supported by the Kentucky legislature, with an approved $4.3 million in the budget to support the tour.

The tour will be split across April, July and September. Each section tour will highlight new repertoire and special guests.

According to Louisville Public Media, “One of the final stops of…the tour will be at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park — a first-time stop for ‘In Harmony.’ Cumberland Falls is one of the few places in the world where a moonbow, a rare lunar rainbow, can be observed. New music from the Louisville Orchestra Creators Corps inspired by the moonbow will be played during this performance.”

For many Kentuckians who desire to take part in the arts, it can be difficult to find accessible opportunities to do so. This tour will provide citizens all throughout the Commonwealth with the opportunity to appreciate the arts, without the financial burden that can sometimes accompany professional performances.
