Women’s basketball dominates weekly awards amidst winning streak

In the midst of their continuous, now double-digit, best-in-program-history winning streak, this year’s Asbury women’s basketball team has seen their accomplishments reflected in the form of awards.

The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) divvies out weekly awards to teams and players in their conference, with women on the Eagles conducting a full sweep.

Senior Haleigh Releford was gifted Player of the Week honors, highlighting her outstanding performance on the court over that period of time.

Releford averaged 12 points per game over the stretch, dropping 20 in a contest against LaGrange to mark her highest metric.

Joining her was sophomore Emily Sizemore who, for the fourth straight week, claimed Rookie of the Week honors.

Sizemore’s numbers sat at 15 points a game, in addition to five boards, five steals and one assist per game to boot.

With numbers like those, it’s easy to see why the ladies keep winning. The two best and most well-recognized players in the CCS last week play in purple and white.

This marks yet another milestone in a long line of such this year for the Eagles. They’ll look to continue their hot streak this coming weekend against Wesleyan College before preparing for their conference and NCAA tournaments to cap off the season.
