Upcoming WHAM

One of the most loved campus events, Worship Him at Midnight (WHAM), returns Friday, Feb. 28 from 10 p.m. to midnight in Hughes Auditorium. WHAM is an opportunity for students to take a break from their busyness and spend intentional time praying and worshipping together.

Many students not only attend this event, but they also help organize it, play or sing in the worship band or share their testimonies or a short sermon. “I have been involved in WHAM and have sung on the worship team on multiple occasions,” said junior Catrina Cablish, “and I have loved being able to lead my fellow students in worship that was outside of a chapel context.”

Junior Wesley Elliot is the primary voice of WHAM and is in charge of planning the worship, student speaking, and leading the WHAM ministry team. The ministry team is made up of 8 volunteers who help steward the space and culture of WHAM.

“I’m stunned to see how they’ve grown this year into various areas of gifting,” said Elliot, “leading and pastoring the men and women on the WHAM ministry team is my greatest honor with WHAM, way more than ever stepping foot on stage.”

Many students feel that WHAM provides them with the time and space away from their daily activities that helps them grow in their faith, experience deeper community, and hear encouragement from their peers.

“WHAM is a safe place outside of the chapel scene where students can just be free worship with more room around them and in a different atmosphere,” said Cablish, “everyone at WHAM wants to be there and so the spirit of worship is very sweet. You can just feel that Jesus is moving in people’s hearts and spirits.”
