It is once again time for the Asbury University Sounds of Stage and Screen event hosted by the music department. This event marks the start of the Highbridge Film Festival. According to Dr. Flanigan, coordinator of instrumental studies and professor of music education, “In this concert, music department ensembles perform a variety of pieces used in movies, television and stage productions.”
The concert gives students a unique opportunity to hear songs from their favorite movies, video games and Broadway productions. This year’s concert will feature familiar favorites from “productions like ‘Wicked,’ ‘Hamilton’ and ‘Dear Evan Hansen,’ as well as movie music from films such as ‘Munich’ and ‘Lawrence of Arabia,’” stated Flanigan. The concert will include performances from the Men’s Glee Club, Wesley Memorial Handbell Choir, Concert Band and Orchestra. This event provides the featured ensembles with the opportunity to “perform music that is very different from the repertoire of many of our other concerts.”
Sounds of Stage and Screen will take place on April 10 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Jameson Recital Hall. Whether you’re a student, faculty member or community resident, this concert is a chance to experience an evening of familiar music that everyone can enjoy.
