Asbury University offers a unique program for students who are interested in pursuing their master’s degree through Asbury, the +Grad program. The +Grad program is a unique, no-pressure way to get a jump start on your graduate degree while still simultaneously earning your bachelor’s.
Asbury is equipped with a wonderful staff to help navigate your next steps, such as Zaire Archuleta, a recruiter for the School of Business. Archuleta has been working for Asbury since December and believes that this program is an opportunity that would be hard to pass up. “It’s a very simple registration process. There’s no major commitment, and there’s no additional financial strain because it fits into the tuition block, and so it’s covered by financial aid. So you could take three grad courses for free, so there’s not really a downside to doing it.”
Marketing Major Hannah Greene comments, “The Graduate Program has been an awesome experience for me. I have been able to take some of the Graduate classes while pursuing my undergrad degree. The classes are a direct pipeline between what I have learned in my undergrad, and I know it will be smooth when I transition to a full-time graduate student.”
When choosing to use the +Grad program, students could complete up to 9 credit hours while in undergrad at no additional cost. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree, completing the master’s degree would take as little as 12 months in total, giving students a leg-up in an already competitive job market. To qualify for this program students must have at least a 3.0 GPA as well as 90 completed credit hours.
Archuleta states, “I think it’s a really good opportunity to do this program as it’s not a big commitment for students where they commit to the program might feel overwhelmed with making such a big commitment to getting a master’s, but they can get a sense of the course load, the instructors, their peers, networking with different students from all over because you’re graduate students. And I think it really sets our students up our undergrad students for success”
This program provides a head start on degrees such as business, accounting, communications, screenwriting, education, teaching and more, allowing Asbury students to test-run a grad program without fully making any financial commitments or time-consuming decisions. Not only does this program allow students to complete their master’s degree at a faster pace, but it also provides students with meaningful relationships with their professors who are willing to pour into their academic careers in a way that is unique to Asbury. Faculty and staff provide a unique, personal experience that leaves students feeling supported through their academic life at Asbury.
