Asbury intramurals is adding another sport to its current list of campus activities.
For the first time in campus history, intramural cornhole will be available for all students. The introduction of this sport to the intramural fields is significant because it is one of the only sports that student-athletes can also participate in without risk of injury.
Intramural employee and baseball player Noah Brown said it’s, “basically impossible for anybody to get hurt.”
Staff hopes that the addition of cornhole will allow for more student-athletes to participate in intramural sports as well as their own.
“Playing intramural sports is a fun and competitive way for people around campus to connect outside of the classroom,” Brown said. He added that the staff wants more athletes to sign up with permission from their coaches. “As an athlete myself, I have a team and am excited to beat anybody I play!”
Registration for cornhole opened Sept. 6 and ends Sept. 17. The cornhole season will begin in the fall on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Teams will compete between 4 and 7 p.m.
