Vince McMahon allegations and docuseries

Former president of WWE, Vince McMahon, stepped down after 40 years with the company due to some heinous allegations against him coming to light.

McMahon was accused by a former WWE employee named Janel Grant of “physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault and trafficking.”

This isn’t the first time McMahon was under fire for sexual misconduct allegations, as he was accused of rape by a referee named Rita Chatterton in 1992.

Despite his adamant denial, an investigation into his affairs, including the seizure of his phone by federal officials, caused his resignation from the WWE.

It was uncovered that McMahon had paid close to $15 million over the span of 16 years to four women to keep them quiet about other sexual misconduct allegations.

“I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies,” said McMahon. “Obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth.”

McMahon was replaced as President of WWE by Nick Khan.

When asked about the allegations against McMahon, Khan said they are “obviously horrific and serious and we take them and interpret them the same way any other reasonable person or organization would interpret them.”

In the midst of the fallout, Netflix released a docuseries on Sept. 25 called “Mr. McMahon.”

The docuseries contains six hour-long episodes, touching on many controversial moments throughout his career, including the Chris Benoit double murder-suicide case, the steroids trial from the ’90s, as well as all of the recent discoveries about his sexual misconduct cases.

It also features interviews with his family members, co-workers and many of the prominent wrestlers from the WWE throughout his time with the company, including his children, Shane and Stephanie McMahon; chief content officer and former wrestler Paul “Triple H” Levesque; John Cena; Hulk Hogan; Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
