Returning tonight, Worship Him At Midnight, more commonly known as WHAM, will be held in Hughes Auditorium. Held around three to four times a semester, WHAM is a worship service from 10-11:30 pm. The night includes songs performed by Asbury’s talented students and a message given by a guest speaker.
The event, beloved by students and faculty alike, continues to stand as a staple of Asbury. It is a sacred space, one that not only acts as a worship gathering to praise Jesus but also as an area to surrender and lay down the hardships of going through life and feed our souls.
Junior Summer Hollis says, “I like the freedom it gives to move around and take whatever posture of worship I need. I am not made to stay in my chair.” WHAM is never a setting for stiff praise but for self-expression in the Lord’s name.
WHAM is also a spot for connections, whether that be with the individuals around you or reigniting a faith in God. It is exceedingly powerful to be in a room where the Father’s presence is so clearly near.
The purpose of the event is to create a place for every member of Asbury’s campus to worship the Lord as they need to, outside of the regularly scheduled services. It involves no judgment, just a safe environment for all people to communicate with God.
