Meet Your 2016 Executive Cabinet

MattJMatt Jackson, President

Class: Anchored

Major: Communications with Leadership emphasis

What are your responsibilities in your role on EC?
My responsibility will be to oversee Asbury Student Congress, ASC events, branches and committees, and to represent student opinions in meetings with faculty and staff from around campus.

What are you most looking forward to for the upcoming year?
I am most looking forward to trying new things on ASC, in our events and in meeting new people so that I can better understand why they are at Asbury and what it is they believe could make our campus more strong and diverse.

If you were a flavor of caf ice cream, what flavor would you be and why?

I would be Christmas cookie, because I love Christmas and it is the closest flavor to cookie dough!

KelseyKelsey Ferrell, Secretary

Class: Vindicated

Major: Accounting

What are your responsibilities in your role on EC?

As Secretary, I will be responsible for a large majority of the organization for our team. I will record meetings, help plan and keep ASC members informed and a bunch of other stuff I’ll find out next year.
What are you most looking forward to for the upcoming year?

I am really looking forward to working with this team. Everyone serving on EC next is great and we already get along/work together so well, so I know our bond will only get stronger. I’m also looking forward to learning the more ‘hidden’ facts about campus and for being a proponent of change for our student body.

If you were a flavor of caf ice cream, what flavor would you be and why?

I honestly don’t get ice cream in the caf a lot; I usually go for the cookies. But I do love the mixed chocolate and vanilla soft serve, and the sprinkles make it cute!

MattYMatthew Young, Vice President of SGA

Class: Vindicated

Major: Secondary Education Social Studies

What are your responsibilities in your role on EC?

I will be the VP of SGA, so this puts me in charge of these committees: Academic and Institutional Issues Committee, Food Services, Issues Awareness, Campus Spaces and Parking and Safety, as well as being able to come alongside all the class cabinets for next year, and helping any clubs that may need some guidance.

What are you most looking forward to for the upcoming year?

I’m really just excited to see what new ideas people bring to the table for next year and to see what innovations we can implement and things we can make better around campus. The part I think I’ll enjoy the most is being able to hear, see and facilitate people’s passions, getting to come along beside them and help make that club or help hold that event or just hearing that idea we can make into reality is going to be awesome.

If you were a flavor of caf ice cream, what flavor would you be and why?

Cotton candy ice cream for sure. You are what you eat?

 LizzElizabeth Byrd, Treasurer

What are your responsibilities in your role on EC?

What are you most looking forward to for the upcoming year?

It’s my senior year, so I’m looking forward to the opportunity through the treasurer position to give back to the Asbury community, which has given so much to me.

If you were a flavor of caf ice cream, what flavor would you be and why?

I would be the chocolate caramel pretzel flavor, because I can be sweet, salty and everything in between.

Raisin Rum because I don’t want to be eaten.

lizzieLizzy Sherwood, VP of SAB

What are you most looking forward to for the upcoming year?

I’m most looking forward to the events we may not even know we’re going to have yet; I’m really excited to brainstorm with the committees to plan new and exciting things for campus!

If you were a flavor of caf ice cream, what flavor would you be and why?

According to my friends I would be Moose Tracks because “there’s a lot happening but it all seems to fit together somehow.”

Taco because it’s more than a personality, it’s an identity.
