Asbury President’s Cabinet to host campus-wide meeting

Asbury Student Congress (ASC) is hosting its first-ever town hall meeting, which will feature the university’s president’s cabinet. The cabinet will discuss Asbury’s systems and answer questions from students.

The meeting will take place in the Student Center Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.

The president’s cabinet consists of President Kevin Brown, Provost Timothy Wooster, Vice President (VP) for Student Development Sarah Baldwin, VP for Business Affairs Glenn Hamilton, VP for Institutional Advancement Mark Troyer and VP for Intercollegiate Athletics Mark Whitworth.

Student Body President Maggie Richwine said this event is a way for administration to open up and hear feedback from students, and for students to better understand Asbury’s systems and learn about policies they may not know.

“I have come to realize that many times students, staff and administration have so much on our plates that we forget that people don’t know the answers to questions that seem common sense or basic for us,” said Richwine.

For example, students may not know how the disciplinary process works or the details regarding tuition.

“My hope is that this Town Hall will bring clarification and communication about issues and subjects that aren’t meant to be hidden, but simply that some people might not know,” Richwine said.

Some topics that ASC may discuss are improvements to the Luce Center, enrollment and tuition, the philosophy behind chapel and the disciplinary process. In addition, the event will have a portion where anyone can ask a question.

Students can also submit questions they have to the Student Congress email, student.congress@asbury.edu.

“We have so many incredible students that have insightful thoughts and concerns, and the same is with administration,” said Richwine. “[Administrators] are actively working to make Asbury a place that we love and I am so excited for the entire student body to hear from them and see their hearts.”
