We have all been seeing videos of people changing their looks while social distancing and why not? Since you’re staying home as much as possible, now is the time to try out style choices you wouldn’t be caught dead wearing in public. When it comes to social distancing fashion, the sky’s the limit.
For many, staying home means staying comfortable and opting for casual wear that is just as comfy in bed as it is on your commute to the couch.
“Since I’ve been staying inside, I just stick to clothes that make me feel comfortable,” said sophomore Sam Diaz. “I want to feel comfy in my own house.”
Juniors Morgan LeBeau and Taylor Eckle both lounge around in comfortable sweatpants and accessorize with bed-head. Not doing anything to your hair is an avant-garde fashion statement in and of itself.
Of course, choosing to stay in pajamas from the time you wake up until you go to bed can be a bit lazy. Senior Lexi Ruffing has revolutionized this style by changing out of pajamas into some workout attire, then showering and putting on a new set of PJ’s. Taking a “pajama hiatus” throughout the day will not only make you feel more put together, but makes it seem like you’ve done more with your day than most. Remember, it is all about appearances.
“Pajamas don’t leave my body,” said sophomore Sara Lidia. Lidia has revealed that she has taken a different approach that allows her to remain comfortable for six days out of the week, and dress up one day a week. This approach is called “fashion custody.”
“I don’t have anybody to impress,” she said.
Although staying home in pajamas may be the norm these days, others, like senior Sarah Cole, have taken this time of isolation to experiment with new looks.
“I wore an entirely blue outfit of different shades, and even all of my accessories were blue,” she said. Cole mentioned wearing a backwards baseball cap on Easter Sunday. Bold move, and we applaud her for it.
Whether you are at home wearing the same pajamas three days in a row or your high school homecoming dress, just remember that fashion is what you make it. Stay comfy, stay indoors and stay fashionable.
