The NBA Eastern Conference champions, Miami Heat and the Western Conference champions, the Los Angeles Lakers, are facing off in this year’s NBA Finals.
The finals are underway starting with the Lakers taking the first two games. Miami then sneaked away with game 3 to make the series 2-1.
This year’s final is far from typical. No cheering fans, no playing in different arenas, no day-to-day travel, no ticket sales. The pandemic forced the NBA to house the rest of the season in the “bubble” in Orlando.
The Lakers defeated the Portland Trailblazers, Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets to make it to their first appearance to the finals since 2010. This was not an easy path for the Lakers, but the path for the Heat was more difficult, defeating the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics to make their first appearance in the finals since 2013.
It is a star-studded final with, among others, Lebron James, Anthony Davis for the Lakers and Jimmy Butler for the Heat, while players such as Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, Kyle Kuzma and Alex Caruso are trying to prove they belong.
Game 4 was scheduled for Oct. 6 and game 5 Oct. 9. Game 6, if necessary, is scheduled for Oct. 11 with a potential game 7 on Oct. 13.
