Spring semester is looking a little different this year. With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to surge, Asbury’s spring break has been replaced with several Eagle Days, days scattered throughout the semester where no classes take place. While these days may not be as highly anticipated as a full week of spring break, they are still times to catch your breath during a busy, pandemic-centric semester. So, how do you make the most out of these days?
I took to Instagram to ask the Asbury masses about how they’re spending their Eagle Day. Here’s what your fellow Asburians have to say:
“It’s time to hit the slopes,” said senior Hunter Shell. “Perfect North is the move!”
While not everyone is hitting the slopes, Shell certainly isn’t the only one who’s planning a fun day trip.
“I’m going to Nashville,” said junior Haley Anderson.
While some students choose to take this day to do something fun, education majors see it as a day to work in their placement school for clinical hours.
“I am an Ed major and I was encouraged by a professor to go to the school I am in for clinicals!” said senior Sarah Rocco.
Senior education major Kenna Gardiner also plans to use the day for clinical hours.
“I will be getting hours in at school,” said Gardiner, “so I have nothing else good to add.”
Others are using the day to work and run errands they otherwise wouldn’t feel they had the time to do.
“I’ll be making money,” said junior Lucas Wyland.
“I’ll be working and running errands!” said senior Kalila Jeffery.
The day for some will be time to catch up on rest and homework or invest in something they enjoy.
“I’m doing homework and practicing,” said sophomore Lucy Bryson, “not much different from a normal day.”
“I’ll probably be doing something but I’m not sure,” said senior Jared McKay.
“I’m investing in GameStock,” said senior Jesse Green.
“I’m going to sleep in and read!” said senior Sam Roberts.
However you’re planning to spend your Eagle Day, take some time for yourself if you can. We’re nearly a month into an unusual semester, and these days are designed for you to take a break from your normal busy routines.
