Asbury students receive Emmy nominations

Asbury Media Communications students have been nominated by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Ohio Valley Region) for student production awards in more than nine different categories.

With the nominations, Asbury beat out all other universities in its region with the number of nominations and has competed against schools such as the University of Kentucky, Western Kentucky University, University of Cincinnati, Ohio State, University of Ohio, Xavier, Kenyon, and many smaller schools.

The accomplishments include student nominations in directing, photography, writing, animation and graphics, and editing, with other nominations focused on different forms of fiction and non-fiction, as well as music video production.

Many award nominations include submissions from the Highbridge Film Festival, an annual event that showcases Asbury’s media communications projects which are entirely student made.

Asbury University President, Dr. Kevin Brown commented on the nominations and the encouraging impact the faculty has made on the students:

“Our Media Communications students continue to set the bar for student excellence in media.  Great thanks to you all for your leadership, guidance, mentoring, teaching, and forming of these incredible students.”

The recipients for the College Student Production Awards competition will be announced during a virtual ceremony on Sunday, October 3 at 8:00 PM (ET)/7:00 PM (CT) at www.ohiovalleyemmy.org and through The Emmys® App (watch.theemmys.tv).
